Jacira Kaplan was born in Brazil in 1963. As a young adult, she left the country searching for beauty and experiences in life. She lived in Portugal, Italy, and Switzerland and spent some vacation time in Germany. In the United States she began learning about American culture while living in several very different states: Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, and New York over the course of the past 20 years. This led her to develop her exclusive artistic style.
In New York, Jacira had the privilege to live with Alayne Simpson during the last few years of her life in a beautiful home overlooking the Hudson River. There Jacira received criticism and support from Ms. Simpson, who was the founder of the first Art School in Westchester County.
Jacira's unique style uses the traditional mediums of oil and water colors, and also acrylics to express her passion for life which she hopes will similarly inspire all of us. Today she lives in a country home in Bethel CT where I spent some time with her recently.
